WHY SHOULD I TITHE?

This question rarely gets asked out loud, but it's safe to say that it's on nearly every Christian or church attender's mind. The fact is that the highest estimates show that roughly 12% of people who claim to be Christians tithe to their local church (or anywhere). We as an organization and a movement are doing poorly in this area. Perhaps it's because we don't understand why we should tithe.

The Bible makes it clear that the attitude and gratitude with which we give will affect the amount that we are blessed & trusted with. Jesus even says blatantly that we ought to continue tithing, but do it without all the pomp & circumstance of the Pharisees. But quite possibly the most compelling reason to give is because God uses those resources through our local church to reach people far from Him. He uses it to change lives, generations, communities, and hearts in ways that we couldn't do on our own.

Hope, joy, restoration - these things are what God does with our tithe.

When we get our eyes off of ourselves and choose to trust God, we begin to see miracles in the midst of the mundane. We see lives changed. We see God glorified and His church thriving.

This is why we tithe.
