DAY 61 OF 366

Resting in Him

Our pressured time frames can make us feel overwhelmed and sometimes deeply tired. Some of us have pushed the cart of demands uphill for so long. We’ve bypassed tired, and are headed toward dangerous, frazzling exhaustion.

God has something for us. He offers us the gift of true rest. Thankfully, we don’t find it from merely sleeping well or taking scheduled vacations. Those luxuries are just a dream for moms of young or disabled children, those taking care of aging parents, or on a loaded work schedule. Mark 2:27-28 tells us that He is Lord of everything—even days of scheduled or improbable rest: “The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath. So then, the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath” (CSB).

Suppose nothing is working as it should, and we get criticized when we take a break? Turn to God and ask Him to make a 10-minute nap feel like an hour’s worth of rest. He is Lord even of the Sabbath. He breaks the norm because He is the fullness and fulfillment of the Law.

Are you feeling overwhelmed or unusually tired? Turn to the Lord of the Sabbath and ask for His rest.

We can be thankful that we can turn to Him for rest. We can abide in Him; His presence can supersede even natural laws and restore our soul. Rest in Him today!
