Chasing Truth™: Read the Bible Cover to CoverSample
Alpha and Omega
Beginnings and endings are not easy. For some, starting something new or ending something well causes anxiety and stress. For others, starting isn’t hard but finishing is excruciating. Still others shut off life completely because the thought of starting or ending is paralyzing. We often think, What can I do to move forward?
Starts and finishes are part of life. We experience them from when we are formed and exit the womb to when we exit life and are put into the ground. The struggle with starting and finishing is often tied to the unknown. The unknown causes fear. It invites doubt and confusion as we ask ourselves questions like, “How is this going to happen?” or “How will this turn out?” Battling these uncertainties helps us understand our finite nature and points us to our need for the Savior.
Jesus Christ is the solution for starting and stopping. Revelation 1:5-8 tells us that He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. Because He loves us with eternal love, when we believe in Him we are secure. As we surrender to God’s authority as the ruler of our life and receive His eternal love, we are empowered. He guides us by His Word and Spirit. He helps us to move forward or stand strong when we are supposed to. Our part is to believe, pray, and surrender.
Is there something you need to start or finish? Ask the First and the Last for His wisdom, then submit to His instruction. He can help you start and finish well!
