Chasing Truth™: Read the Bible Cover to Cover

DAY 229 OF 366

Building Once Again

Sometimes it is hard to find momentum to go against what everyone else is doing. It is easier for us to “go with the flow,” despite seeing the reality that we need drastic change. How do we advance as God’s people when it seems like a tidal wave of anti-God sentiments prevail in today’s culture?

Consider the lives of God-following people who went before us—like Ezra. Ezra was used by God not only to stand against the culture of his day, but he was an instrument God used to bring people back spiritually toward right living. He restored what was broken.

How did Ezra bring restoration? He drew the people of Israel back to the Word of God and challenged them to put it into action. People began to repent and return to the Truth taught in prior generations. God used Ezra to build up what others had torn down.

God wants to do the same with us as He did with Ezra. We see several generations in our culture who have no idea what God really says or does. Broken hearts are filled with worry, anxiety, fear, stress, and greed. So much foundational instruction has been forfeited. Yet, God’s people can spiritually build again.

Speak God’s Word. Allow the Spirit to use your words to point people back to a healthy spiritual life. Ask God to make you an Ezra in this generation. Ask Him for the strength and the will to be bold and rebuild. Ask Him where to start; then do it!
