Growing in HopeSample
Your Hope in God
In Ephesians 1:15 Paul said that he had heard of their faith and love. The Ephesians had a reputation of trusting in the Lord Jesus and loving the other believers. What is it that you are known for? Is it for your faith? For your love?
In verses 16-17- Paul was dedicated to praying for the people in Ephesus. When he prayed, he gave thanks to God for them, their faith, and their love! One thing he prayed for is for the eyes of their heart to be opened to the Hope of His calling.
As followers of Jesus, God has called you into a relationship with Himself. The hope that we have in our relationship with God gives us peace. There is no guarantee our lives will be easy. As a matter of fact, Jesus told us in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” There will be hardships in this world, but we are not to worry because He overcame the world. We have the promise of spending eternity in Heaven with Him. Let your hope in Jesus be your focus!! Ask Him to increase your understanding of the hope you have in Him!
Not only have you been called into a relationship with Jesus, which gives you hope, but God has a plan and a purpose for you. He has created you for something much bigger than yourself. He has a calling for you! Ask God to open the eyes of your heart to the hope of His calling. Not what you want, but what He has for you. When you are doing what God wants you to do, your peace will be even greater. Make it a point to ask Him this with a sincere heart for the next 30 days to open the eyes of your heart to the hope of His calling! He will reward you as you earnestly seek Him! (Hebrews 11:6)
Prayer:
Father, I pray that You will open the eyes of my heart so that I can see You and the hope I have in You! All of my hope is in You Jesus! Please open the eyes of my heart to the hope of Your calling. Thank You for your love and your forgiveness. May my life-my thoughts, my words and my actions-honor You today. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
