FCA Endurance: Becoming IronFitSample
Train with a Great Coach
Ready:
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you.” John 14: 16-18
Set:
Many successful endurance athletes obtain a coach to optimize their training and improve their performance. They get to know their athletes well so they can counsel them and build effective training plans.
Coaches carefully analyze workout data for their athletes. They use this data to measure fitness improvements and then adjust their athlete's plan to facilitate progression. The goal of this process is to have an athlete be in peak shape on race day. Interestingly, coaches can be effective even from a distance–they don’t need to be right by your side.
Now, think about having the most qualified Coach imaginable by your side during every training session, race, and moment! You have that in Christ. Our Coach is God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. But unlike earthly coaches doing their coaching from the sidelines, He is actually in the race with you!
God does not just give us advice. He is with us, for us, and in us. That’s the kind of Counselor and Coach we all need! He cares for us and wants the best for us. Just like a coach encourages and comforts an athlete, God is there to lift us up and put us on our feet again. He gives us purpose so that we are strengthened and so that we bring Him glory.
Go:
1. Do you look at God as your Coach? If not, how can you start doing this?
2. Describe how you can align your plans and life with Him.
Workout:
Isaiah 9:6
John 14:26
Overtime:
“Heavenly Father, thank You for being the best Coach and Counselor ever. Thank You for always being there for me. Your ways are perfect. Help me to trust You and Your plans for my life as I surrender my all to You. Thank You for loving me and leading me.”

About this Plan
This plan is a ten-day guide to increasing your spiritual strength and performance. Many endurance athletes spend hours, days, and months training to compete in an event like Ironman but may not spend time training for their spiritual journey. These athletes have an intense training regimen that can be duplicated in your spiritual training with God. The next ten days prepares you for that. Let the training and competition begin!
