1 Corinthians 15:3-5 offers us a perfect summary of the work of Christ. It reminds us of the foundation of our faith: Christ died for our sins, as the scriptures foretold. He was buried, showing the world that He was truly dead. On the third day, as the scriptures foretold, He was raised to life. Finally, He appeared to Cephas (Peter), and then to the rest of the disciples. 

The work of Christ would have been fully complete with His resurrection. He didn’t have to appear to anyone. But so we would believe, He appeared to many people before He ascended into heaven. The knowledge of the resurrection of Jesus changed everything. It is the foundation of what we believe. Our God wanted us to know that Jesus was raised to life, and because of this, everything would be different. 

Lord Jesus, thank You for making your resurrection known to the world. Thank You for entrusting Your followers with this wonderful truth and for allowing me to hear it. I ask that You would open my eyes to see how the resurrection has indeed changed everything and how I can live in light of this wonderful truth. Amen.
