STAY FIT: Strengthening Your Connection To JesusSample
Relationships produce similar relationships.
So, what happened to the Israelites? One generation served the Lord. That sounds like a good thing. But instead of translating into the next generation serving the Lord, it translated into the next generation not knowing the Lord and not knowing what he’d done for them. What happened?
Maybe serving God wasn’t enough for the next generation. Maybe they needed to see something more meaningful to be inspired and motivated. Maybe they needed to see a relationship.
Are we better at serving God than having a relationship with him? We often think our actions will produce the best results. Maybe the Israelites mistakenly thought their actions would be enough to inspire the next generation to follow God. What if our relationships actually produce the best results?
Your relationship with God matters. Yes, it matters to you today. But, more importantly, it matters to those around you. Again, relationships produce similar relationships.
How can you help those around you follow God?
• Have a meaningful, growing relationship with God.
• Serve God because of that relationship.
• Let those around you see your relationship with God in action.
How can you feed off of others that have a relationship with God?
• Get around people who talk about God in the present tense.
• Get around people who have “God stories” to tell.
• Get around people who actively love other people because of their relationship with God.
