DAY 7 OF 7

Remembering

Do you remember the best birthday you ever had? Was there cake? Did your family or friends celebrate with you? When you remember your best birthday, think of those that you love, the smell of cake in the oven, the singing of the birthday song. Each part of that memory is somewhat tangible as you reflect on moments that are a part of you. Our memories help us every day as we make decisions, build friendships, and go about our lives. And although we may have great experiences with God, we can sometimes find ourselves forgetting that He is the most important person in our lives. Have you ever found yourself asking “where is God right now?”, or “why won't God answer my prayers?” If you have found yourself in these thoughts, you are not alone. In 1 Kings 18, we find the prophet Elijah standing up to and defeating the prophets of Baal by calling down the supernatural fire of God. After this, you would think that he would be certain that God was with him and that he would have no fear going into the future. But in the next chapter (1 Kings 19), we find Elijah distraught over a threat from one person. God had to remind Elijah that he was not alone, and that God had never failed him before. We often need this same reminder; we are not alone and God has never failed us. We must take time whenever we are faced with fear of the future to remember all that God has done and all that He will do. All of the spiritual disciplines point to this: we are not alone in anything and God will never fail us.

In what areas of your life do you need to be reminded that God is with you? Write down a few times when God has been with you, and let those moments serve as a reminder for you.

Day 6

About this Plan

Spiritual Fitness

This plan will focus on foundational spiritual disciplines that every Christian should develop to be spiritually fit and healthy. This plan will help students focus on practices such as reading the Word of God and worship, as well as discuss the necessity of having a prayer life, fasting, and giving. We believe these spiritual disciplines can lay a sturdy foundation in a student’s life!
