Anointed by God
Every human being has an anointed purpose on earth. Understanding our mission and falling in line with what God wants us to do is essential. God has a hierarchy. Following the regime which God has set is also crucial. Many of us rebel against the authority placed over us. I have met people who have regretted their decision of going against those in authority. In submitting to earthly authorities, we are submitting to the power of God.
When God places us in a position of authority, He is waiting to see if we will depend on Him to exercise power vested on us, or we will become independent of God and do what we like. It was the same with Aaron, who could not enter the promised land and joined his sister Miriam in questioning the authority of his brother Moses. We need to be content with the power and position God gives us. There is always somebody over us, and there is still somebody below us. Even when we exercise our authority, we need to be under the influence and leadership of those above us. Even the president of a country needs to submit to the jurisdiction of the law of the land.
Authority vested on us is something we will need to give account for. Let us be vigilant, responsible and exercise the authority vested on us with diligence and reverence. Some guidelines would be that we should not manipulate or harass our subordinates for our own advantage. Our ethics, based on God's teaching, should be visible to those above us and under us by our actions, not just our words. The same principles apply in the context of authority in our families between spouse, parents and children.
In our journey with God-given authority, we will face rebellion along the way. God wants us to look to Him to fight our battle. God will defend the power He has given us, and we need to rest in His presence.
Thought for the day:
In our jobs and homes, is our authority challenged? What does God want us to do in this situation?
Lord Help me to be a good steward of the authority vested to me.

About this Plan
To discover the truths from a book like Numbers, which we tend to skip, this reading plan teaches us to have a devotion while also having a systematic study, in spite of the not so exciting chapters.
