Do I know you..?

‘I think I know, but I can’t remember exactly…” Have you ever been in a similar situation? You meet someone, and you know that you’ve met this person before, in another context, on another occasion. It happened to me years ago. We were on holiday and we met a person during a hike in the mountains. It took a while, some careful questions (because you can be wrong) and then we found out; we used to work together!

Something like that happened to the woman in this story. Let’s take a look at this.

The woman meets Jesus, the Messiah, but she does not recognize him. He is a strange man. Different from all other men she knew. She had some experience with men. She had been married five times and lived with the sixth man. She knew that a Jewish man would not talk to her because she was a Samaritan, and at that time Jews and Samaritans disliked and avoided one another.

But Jesus reveals more and more about himself. And then, at the end of this story she knows who he really is.

The reason she finds out is that she listens and opens her mind and her heart. She is curious. Maybe you want to know who Jesus is. Be curious and keep asking questions and keep searching. Jesus will show you who he is.
