How I Got Closer to GodSample
WHAT ABOUT THE BAD STUFF?
Some people don’t trust God or want to get closer to Him because they’re confused about what comes from Him and what comes from the devil. They say, “If God is so good, why does so much bad stuff happen?”
John 10:10 NKJV clearly shows us what comes from God and what comes from the devil. Jesus said, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” So here’s how you tell what comes from God and what comes from the devil—if there is any killing, stealing, or destroying going on, it was the devil, not God!
You can’t trust someone if you think they are causing or allowing the pain, destruction, or loss in your life. You must settle it in your heart, once and for all, that God is good, He has a good plan for you, He loves you, and you can trust Him.
God knows that it’s hard for humans to trust someone they can’t see or someone they’ve only heard bad things about all their lives. But He wants you to know you can depend on Him. There are a lot of scriptures in the Bible that say the Lord is good. I encourage you to study it out.
When you begin to know and understand that He is good and not bad, then you can trust Him with all your heart.
When you trust the Lord, you can experience perfect peace. There’s nothing like it! In situations where you used to feel stressed or worried or fearful or confused, now you can have peace—a certain knowing in your heart that God is with you and is taking care of you. You won’t be leaning to your understanding; you’ll be trusting Him.
Trusting Him simply means knowing that He has a better way than you do. When you trust Him, He’ll show you how to handle things in life that you need His wisdom for.
Another wonderful benefit of trusting God completely is that He will direct your path—He will guide you every day. He will be in charge of your comings and goings and make sure you’re in the right place at the right time. That has huge implications for your life.
