Building Your Prayer Life

DAY 23 OF 36

Lesson Four: Building Process 1 - Deepening the Devotional Life, Keeping a Prayer Journal

Journaling as a spiritual discipline has many benefits. It may be difficult for people who are not used to writing, but it is something one can gradually learn to do.

Benefits of Journaling

  • Preserves lessons/insights learned from God
  • Strengthens focus during your time with God C. Enjoys the privilege and impact of language D. Keeps a record of your history with God

Things you can write on your journal

  • Dominant feelings or thoughts of the day that you want to tell God about – could be about an experience, a problem, a lesson, a question, etc,
  • Insights/lessons coming out of your meditation of God’s Word
  • Special impressions God is laying on your mind regarding specific issues at hand.
  • Important prayer concerns you want to keep track in the long-term.

Exercise 1: Get yourself a notebook, and begin to keep a journal for a week, and share how the experience is helping your relationship with God. You may also seek help if you need some in doing this suggested project.

Exercise 2: Recite Prayer Principle 4 and Memory Verses 4A and 4B.
