God is joyFULL

I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but God is not just love, He’s also JOY! And 'tis the season to be Jolly and Joyful because we have the most incredible, good news story headlining our lives: God loves us. In fact, He came to earth to show His love for us and laid down His life so that we could enJOY life with Him! 

Now perhaps you’re tired, or even cynical about Christmas. But this Christmas, don’t let this steal your joy. As we enter the season of Christmas, let’s make time to get together and celebrate all the reasons that we have to be joyful. 

We always have access to joy, no matter what life looks like when we know God, because GOD IS JOY! In Ecclesiastes, the wisest man ever to live, Solomon, said there is a “time to laugh and a time to dance.” This is a time for joy! Let’s make this a season of joy!

Christmas is a time to celebrate joy literally arriving on earth. Christmas marks one of the greatest days in history:  when God came to our neighbourhood, to save us. 

God is joyFULL, not a gloomy judge in the sky scowling down on us. God sent Jesus to bring us back to him; to bring us back to his JoyFULLness! Have you stopped to consider that God’s plan is to bring you into eternal joy? 

In Matthew 25:14-20 Jesus told the story of people serving a master, and that master’s response to the way they lived their lives. When they’re finished working, the master says, “share in my joy.” 

That’s the invitation of Christmas and Christianity: God welcomes us to come and share in His joy, because the gospel (the GOOD news) is a story about all the reasons we have to celebrate with a joyFULL God!

Why not plan some celebrations this Christmas season where you can share some of the joy God has shared with you? Why not host a dinner party, or a street BBQ, and use them as an opportunity to spread the joy found in Jesus to those around you?
