Children in poverty are too often deprived of their childhoods. Many are forced to work to help their families. Others are exploited or exposed to depravity.

In the verses we read today, God wants all his family to shine like stars, blameless and pure in this warped and crooked generation. That includes the children too! When children shine with the light of Jesus, others are drawn toward the light.

One way that is possible is through homes where peace is abundant: The verses say that everything should be done without grumbling and complaining.

Let’s pray today that God will bless children with childhoods that are peaceful, protected, and enjoyable so they can shine bright with the light of Jesus.

“Lord, I pray for innocence for children in poverty. I pray that every child will have the opportunity to wonder, to learn, to grow, and to play. What joy it brings your heart to see the innocence of a child!

May you bless their households with peace and love. May your children around the world shine brightly so their friends see the love of Jesus shining through them.

God, I pray for safe places for these children to play and learn, away from the eyes of those who wish to harm them. Be their protection and safety. May these children shine like stars, drawing others to know and love you. Amen.”
