Celebrating the Father and the Son… in the Spirit
Christmas is a festival like no other. No other religion, creed, or school of philosophy has such a celebration as Christmas. What it reveres is not a doctrine or an obligatory observance, neither does it memorialize tradition-driven rituals regardless how grand, or even deeds of mankind no matter how heroic or impressive. It is a completely purposeful gathering that people want, even long, to be a part of.
So, what is this soul-to-soul celebration anyway? It is nothing less than a spontaneous burst of hilarious joy coming from a revelation of the wonderful, glorious, God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. What a God He must be to be “the God and Father of Jesus!”
And what a Son He is! What a Savior! The Lord Jesus Christ is whatever we read of the Lord our God, so as we celebrate the coming of the Christ-child, we are celebrating the love, compassion, and faithfulness of the Father. As Colossians 1:15 testifies, Jesus was, “…the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation” (NKJV).
Now that’s “Gospel” (good news) and something to rejoice in and celebrate!
“Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous; And shout for joy, all you upright in heart” (Psalm 32:11, NKJV)!
Have a wonderful Christmas! You may as well — God wants you to have it.
