Thanksgiving 365 “Living Thankful in Every Season”

DAY 3 OF 3

 Thanksgiving Is A Weapon

“This is the only time in all of eternity that we get to worship Jesus through pain. That makes our response in difficult times very important, and even special.” – Rick Pino

We have to praise through, and then we will see breakthrough. Praise and thanksgiving are weapons that destroy the enemy. What is your response to hardships, discouragement, and doubt? Do you respond in agreement with the enemy, or does praise roar from the depths of your inner man? Praise lavishly poured out from brokenness is the most precious, costly offering we could give to our beautiful King. Furthermore, it is only in this lifetime that we get the privilege of offering Him such praise.

Praise offered from a place of brokenness and trial ushers confusion into the enemy’s camp. This kind of praise counteracts the plans of the enemy, and captures the heart of God. The enemy becomes frazzled, as we lift a fragrant offering to the Lord amid brokenness and hardship. If we are complacent, lazy, and silent, we allow the enemy to gain a foothold. God is calling us to be a people of praise, a people of thanksgiving, which in turn makes us a people of strength. Let’s release a roar of praise, and a sacrifice of thanks that captures the heart of God, scatters the enemy, and breaks down walls!

In Hosea chapter 10, Hosea says, “Judah plows.” The Hebrew word for “Judah” means, “praise.” Praise plows through the enemy! When we align our hearts and mouths with thanksgiving and praise, we will plow through any plan or attack from the enemy! In Matthew 1:3, we see in the genealogy of Jesus, that Judah (praise) is the father of twins, Perez and Zarah. “Perez” means “breakthrough,” or “to burst forth,” and Zarah means “rising.” Praise causes breakthrough to arise!

Praise and thanksgiving must become an unconditional part of our nature. Paul and Silas stood in the middle of a prison cell, and refused to allow their circumstances to dictate their praise. Their praise wasn’t reactive to the seen; it was proactive to the unseen. Their praise was a precious aroma of love that preceded the manifestation of God’s power. Let’s be a people of praise and thanksgiving in every season!

Pray this aloud, “Jesus, I invite you to form in me a heart of thanksgiving. I repent for complaining and being ungrateful, and I return to You, my first love. Open my eyes, to discern the distractions in my life, and help me to see Your beauty in every area of my life, in every season of my life. I turn my eyes from worthless things, and I fasten my gaze on You. I want to see you face-to-face! Here is my offering of praise; here is my sacrifice of thanks. You are worthy! Amen!”

About this Plan

Thanksgiving 365 “Living Thankful in Every Season”

When the magnitude of Jesus' love expressed on the cross has sunk deep in our hearts, how could thanksgiving not be embedded into our very nature? Thanksgiving is more than a season or holiday; it is a posture of heart. ...
