Love That’s Hard to Describe

Okay, yesterday, we learned all about some of the ways God is huge, enormous, and impossible to fully describe. Today, we’re going to focus more on the amazing and indescribably wonderful love of God. Watch this video where Leslie, a friend from the Loop Show, explains the powerful love of God that’s described in John 3:16. Oh! And! We’re going to be focusing on that verse every day for this whole Bible Plan. Leslie’s using the NLT version—in case you’d like to choose to read the same version. 

Wow. It’s hard to imagine loving someone enough to die for them. But, it’s still imaginable. What’s harder to imagine? Dying for someone who hates you. Who mocks you. Or who ignores you completely. But God loved us enough to ask Jesus to die for us even when we were hurling insults at Him on the cross. He loves us enough to forgive us every single time we mess things up. He loves us more than we even love ourselves.

God didn’t want to be without us. He wanted to show us how much He loves us. The Creator of the Universe—the huge, enormous, impossible-to-fully-describe God—wants to be friends with you. He did what it took (sending Jesus to take your punishment) to make things right so that He could fix your chance at a friendship with Him. Amazing!

Ask yourself: What’s the part that’s the most amazing to me about the way God sent Jesus to Earth to die for us?  

Challenge yourself: Talk to someone you know about how it makes you feel when you think about everything God did for people—especially how it makes you feel when you think about how He loves you enough that if you were the only human on Earth, He still would’ve sent Jesus to die just for you. 

Pray: God, thank You for sending Jesus to die for me. Thank You for forgiving me when I mess up. Thank You that I don’t have to “be good” in order for You to love me. Thank You for loving me all the time. Help me always to remember how great Your love is. In Jesus’ name, amen.
