Eternity Is Now Sample
A carpenter turned rabbi began traveling around inviting random people to become his disciples - fishermen, tax collectors, and others who wouldn't be considered "A+" students. Nobody knew who this rabbi was. He hadn't yet made a name for himself and didn't have any students at the time.
How would you respond if this guy were to come up to you and say, “follow me"?
We don't know how all of the conversations went, but what we see time and time again is that many of Jesus' would-be disciples dropped everything and followed Him. They gave up their careers, livelihoods, and even family businesses to follow Jesus. That's crazy! The disciples staked so much on this Jesus whom they barely knew.
If you were one of these disciples, would you have followed Jesus or would the cost have been too great? t's one thing to wonder how you would have responded back then. However, Jesus’ call to you is the same call he gave to those would-be disciples 2000 or so years ago - “follow me.”
Deciding to follow Jesus may not require you to give up a career path or a family business (though it may), but it will cost you something. What's that cost for you? Goals, ambitions, habits, friendships, hobbies, or something else? Lots of people want to experience the eternal kind of life that Jesus offers, but less are willing to pay the cost.
Are you willing to pay that cost or is following Jesus too costly for you? Are you truly following Him or have you settled for “believing” in Him?
About this Plan
Many people's version of Christianity has everything to do with the future but little to do with today. Jesus cares about your tomorrow, but he also cares about your today. Eternity isn't just a quantity of life, but a quality of life that can be experienced here and now. Eternity doesn’t start when we die. Eternity is now.
