Blooming of Kindred Spirits
I visit Elizabeth, cousin and friend.
She too was expecting, though nearer the end.
Upon our first meeting, her child leapt with glee,
John, still in the womb, making way for the King.
Elizabeth praised me as one richly blessed
Now bearing the child to set free the oppressed.
A pink rose of sharon sets fast in my mind
My son’s foretold purpose with mandate divine.
We know not the ripples of each earthly act
Like David and God’s royal lineage pact.
When tempted to think I serve no role at all
This pink rose reminds me of my special call.
