Listening To The Word - 1 YearSample
Serving with Emotional Health
Acts 20:18-19, 31
“You know how I lived the whole time I was with you…I served the Lord with great humility and with tears, although I was severely tested by the plots of the Jews…I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.”
Paul combined clear presentations of the truth and grace of the gospel with great love for those he was reaching and discipling. Without great love and humility for people and with people, our ministry becomes tasks to accomplish, projects to complete and strategic plans to deliver. Tears reveal the heart; they expose our identification with others, and the language of the heart more than our minds.
Are we communicating with our hearts as well as our minds as we disciple, shepherd and serve others?
The freedom to express emotion requires humility so that our focus is less on ourselves and more on the Lord and others. The healing and freeing of our hearts and emotions will bear good fruit in the hearts of those whom we are serving and leading.
Lord Jesus, I humble myself before you. I pray for the release of my emotions in healthy ways as I love and serve you and others, for your glory.
