Listening To The Word - 1 YearSample
The Fruit of Loving God’s Commands
Psalm 119:127, 128
“Because I love your commands more than gold, more than pure gold, and because I consider all your precepts right, I hate every wrong path.”
Psalm 119:165
“Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.”
The fruit of loving God’s laws and commands and ways is that we hate every wrong path. Focusing on sin is not a helpful strategy for resisting it. However, a renewed love for God’s Word changes our appetites and shifts the focus of our thoughts. We develop new appetites and find distasteful that which formerly interested us. The fruit of loving God’s Word is also great peace in our lives. Peace that is beyond understanding, regardless the circumstance. Peace that testifies we are known and loved by the Creator of the universe. His way gives us light in every circumstance. We do not fear stumbling because we are not living by the light of God’s commands and his Word. God’s Word brings peace and new priorities for those who learn to love it.
Lord Jesus, thank you that you are the living Word, come in flesh to bring peace and a new way to live. Thank you.
