Faith in God
Galatians 5:6
“…The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.”
The world counts differently than God. The world counts beauty, success, reputation and power. God counts faith, expressed through love. The Jewish tradition and Mosaic covenant counted obedience to the law, the prophets and oral tradition. The result was a self- righteousness which was lifeless and often hypercritical. Jesus brought a new covenant of faith expressing itself through love. For followers of Jesus, this is the only thing that counts. To live by faith we must live in obedience and dependence on the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is love. To live by faith is to keep in step with the Spirit, to please the Spirit and to obey the slightest promptings of the Spirit. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love in the power of the Spirit.
Jesus, you are my life this day. My faith is in your completed work of salvation and your Spirit alive and at work within me, for your glory.
