Daughters - A Seven Day Devotional for Women

DAY 2 OF 7

Day 2

He adopted you.

Before Jesus, there was a great distance between us and God. We could try to get close to Him but there was a chasm—like we were friends, but not family. Then God sent his Son to come close to us, to experience what we experience. God knew how far away we were, and because of His great love for us, his Son Jesus paid the price of death for a punishment that we deserved.

By rescuing us, He gave us a gift we could never earn.

Have you ever received a gift for doing something wrong?

It doesn’t make sense, right?

When we put God into our finite minds, it doesn’t make sense, because God’s care for us is vast and beyond what we understand. Instead of God casting us away from Him, He invited us into His family by adopting us as His sons and daughters. Jesus endured the punishment we deserved for the glory that awaited Him in heaven, and God offers us that same glory. He places on us the same “sonship” that his own Son has.

He gives us a new name. He promises a room in His house. He promises a seat at His family dinner. We have the keys to his house where we can walk in, kick our shoes off, and make ourselves at home, because we’re a part of God’s family. We will receive the same inheritance from the Father that Jesus gets. We are as much His children as Jesus is.

God chose you. He saw you and wanted you to be his daughter. You belong to Him, because He adopted you as His child.

About this Plan

Daughters - A Seven Day Devotional for Women

This 7-day devotional plan will help you understand and walk through how God views you. He sees you. He adopted you. He frees you. He loves you. He disciplines you. He hears you. He calls you. You can walk through this plan on your own, but it can be more powerful to go through it in community as you find your place as His daughters.
