Self-Harm And God's LoveSample
"Healing with Others"
One of the hardest things we must do in order to heal is to stop trying to do it alone. If we want true healing to begin then we must stop keeping this a secret. Besides trusting that God can help change us, we must take the difficult step of confessing this to another believer and getting their help. God ultimately works through the people in our lives and his word teaches us to reach out to others for help. Forget the embarrassment and recognize that two working together is better than doing it alone. Our healing process is actually improved when we share our feelings and struggles with others. In addition to getting these secrets out of our system, those we share our struggles with can pray with us and for us.
We know it is scary to confess this to others. We do not recommend that you do this without thought and prayer. Look for someone that is a mature adult and preferably a follower of Jesus Christ. This person should be someone that trusts God, can be discrete with what we share, and who will be committed to our healing process.
