Put God’s Word First in Your Life 

I desperately want you to have a passion and a hunger for the Word of God. We can only be successful if we prioritize the Word. We all know that we have to eat for our bodies to survive, but do we know that we have to eat spiritually? We have to read, memorize, and study the Word of God to survive spiritually and have success in life. Each of us should have a Bible reading plan. If we don’t, we won’t consistently read through the Bible. If we fail to plan, we plan to fail! The plan I follow allows me to read through the Bible twice each year. There are plans that help you read the whole Bible or just the New Testament in one year. Pick one and stick to it. God teaches us wisdom in the secret place (see Psalm 51:6). He does that through His Word. If we read the Bible, the Bible will “read us.” God will take the truth of the Bible and make it wisdom in our lives. What we read is used by God to give us wisdom that we can apply to our lives, but this only happens if we do our part. We must read the Word of God!

Joshua 1:8 says, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” I have a list of scriptures in my phone that resonate with me. I update them periodically and confess the whole list every morning as I drink my coffee. When I travel overseas, I work to get in sync with the local time as soon as possible, so I can continue to keep my routine of confessing the Word. For me, it is not an option to let the Word go, even for a few days. You see, that is how God started everything. He created the entire world with the Word. If we want to see miracles in our lives, we must speak the Word instead of the problem! There is always a promise that God has given us that is an answer to our problem. To see miracles, we must trust the promise more than the problem. We must speak the Word of God!
