A Woman of Significance: Finding Meaning in Times of Loneliness

DAY 4 OF 5

View Your Life Through God's Grace

One of the amazing aspects of your life as a woman is that God wired you for fellowship and for companionship. No woman is an island, able to go through life without conversation, shared laughter, and sweet friendship. So, if you are lonely, even though you are never alone because of the promise of God’s presence, you can rest assured that you were designed by your Creator to interact with others. It is not a sin to desire close friends who will cheer you on through life—it is part of what makes you a glorious creation of the Father.

David was a man who knew the discouragement that often accompanies loneliness. In Psalm 25, in his moment of solitude, he cried out to the Lord for grace and comfort. But there was something else David knew that you and I might overlook—he recognized the fact that loneliness can actually enlarge your other troubles. When you are lonely, a lack of finances can become more devastating. When you are lonely, health issues can seem more daunting. When you are lonely, a missing sense of destiny can appear cavernous. David asked the Lord to deliver him from that place of enlarged distress.

If you are lonely today, remember that loneliness is often a magnifying glass for other pain and troubles. Rather than allowing your loneliness to be the window through which you view the rest of your life, pray the prayer that David did and ask for the grace of God to help you in your current state. When you view your life through God’s grace, rather than through loneliness, you will observe His goodness and faithfulness in all of your circumstances. Would you pray this prayer of David with me now?

Lord, You know how lonely I am. Would You turn to me today? Would You be that Friend who really is closer than a brother? Would You show Your grace toward me? Lord, help me keep my other troubles in their proper perspective. I pray that I can see my life the way that You see my life. I trust You to bring me out of my distresses. Amen.

About this Plan

A Woman of Significance: Finding Meaning in Times of Loneliness

Our lives are saturated with busyness, interactions, relationships, and social media. However, this doesn’t guarantee that we will never be lonely. You are beloved by God, and He will lift you up in times of solitary living and deepest loneliness. Lonely periods are not irrelevant seasons but hidden opportunities to draw closer to the Father and perhaps wield the greatest significance of our lives.
