Every Word, a Reader's 90-Day Guide to the Bible

DAY 63 OF 90

  • God has repeatedly demonstrated the endurance of His steadfast love (Psalm 136). As you read the psalms, reflect on neglected places in your life that need restoration and rededication. Read prayerfully with a heart of worship.
  • Malachi is written as a dialogue between God and His people. It is a final commentary on the history of Israel. Read to understand what the people’s responses reveal about their hearts.
  • Malachi prophesies about the coming Messianic kingdom, which will be announced by an Elijah-like messenger (Malachi 3:1; 4:5), John the Baptist.
  • Today you finish the Old Testament! Contrast who God has shown Himself to be with who man has shown himself to be. With many promises still pending, we turn the page anticipating redemption, reconciliation, and restoration.
  • Amos 8:11 foretold a famine of the word of God, the 400 years of silence between Malachi and Matthew. During that time, God continues to direct history (as outlined in Daniel 7), setting the stage for the good news of Jesus to spread like wildfire.
