For Those Who Are Thirsty Sample
Living Water
Jesus invited all who are thirsty to come to him and drink. Jesus is not like a trickle or a drop of water about to vanish. It is not a gulp or a mouthful but much more. Believing in Jesus does not mean that you receive temporary reprieve for your thirst. In fact, Jesus said that those who drink of His water never thirst again.
Jesus said He would give people who believe in Him water from the spring of life—that they would experience Him as a spring of water continually bubbling over in their hearts. He also said that whoever believes in Him would have rivers of living water flowing within them.
Springs and rivers are not stagnant. They flow from their headwaters to the sea. They plunge over cliffs, gurgle through the woods, carve channels in the hardest rock, meander over the countryside, rush under bridges, roar as they gain strength and volume, and finally reach the shore. They provide habitats for living creatures and bring sustenance and refreshment to all in their path. Life with Jesus brings abundance and joy.
Do you want that transformation? Drink of Jesus, the Living Water. Belief in Christ is the Thirst Quencher of the soul. There is nothing and no one else who can satisfy the human soul like He does. Salvation doesn’t depend on how often you go to church or read the Bible. It doesn’t mean you believe Jesus is a nice guy. It isn’t saying that you’ve always known about Jesus or that you grew up in a Christian home. It doesn’t mean that you will never struggle with sin or that your life will be perfect. You will still have to deal with your schedule; your family is always going to be your family.
But Jesus is the Thirst Quencher for the soul. To believe in Christ means to rest your full weight on Him—to have confidence that He is the one who will save you. It means that when Christmas is long past and you’re deep in the February funk, you still know that the only way to be saved, the only way to walk through the Pearly Gates, is by believing in Jesus. He is the Shepherd, the Teacher, the King of kings, the Lord of lords, the Living Water we thirst for.

About this Plan
This plan is based on the invitation that Jesus issued in John 7:37–39. In seven meditations, you will reflect upon the thirst that only Jesus can satisfy, how belief in Christ can quench that thirst, what Jesus meant when He invited all who are thirsty to come to Him, and what He promises will happen to those who believe in Him and whose hearts are indwelt by the Holy Spirit.
