I Can Learn The Bible: The Joshua Code For KidsSample
“Pray to me, and I will answer you. I will tell you important secrets. You have never heard these things before.” Jeremiah 33:3
Ring, Ring!
Do you know any phone numbers by heart? Can you say them? This week’s verse, Jeremiah 33:3, is known as God’s phone number. Even though God does not actually use a phone to talk with us, He wants us to call to Him anytime, and He promises to answer!
Talking to God
Think about it this way. When you are talking to a friend, one of you is talking and the other is listening. That is the way communication works. Well, prayer is the talking part of our relationship with God. He wants you to call Him. And when you do, you get to tell Him anything and everything that is on your heart, knowing that He is listening.
God’s Answer
In this verse, God makes two promises. The first promise He makes is that when you pray to Him, He will answer you! Whether or not you feel like it, God is always listening when you talk to Him. He is never too far or too busy to answer your call. The second promise God makes in this verse is that when we pray to Him, He may very well answer in a way that we cannot even imagine! He wants to show us wonderful things, if only we will call on Him.
Many of us say our prayers before meals, at bedtime, or even at special events with our families. But is there ever a time when you pray, when you call on God, all by yourself? These can be very special times of prayer, just between you and Him. Will you try this tonight? After you are all tucked in, by yourself in your bed, call upon God. Say your verse for this week in your heart, and pray quietly to Him. Tell Him about your day, how you are feeling, and anything else you are thinking about. Ask Him any questions you have, and don’t forget to thank Him for all He has done for you. Then you will know what it is like to use God’s phone number!
Dear Father, I want to call upon You and talk to You. Thank You for listening to what I say and for always answering me when I call. Amen.
Ready? Let’s say it!
God’s Word is for me and to me, it is in me and working through me, and just like His love, it goes on and on forever!
