Men And Women Of A Different Spirit: A Seven Day Devotional To Greater FaithSample
Fear is a liar-- AND A THIEF.
Just as fear robs us of the good things God has for us, the people of Israel let fear influence the decisions they made more than their faith and it cost them everything. God saw their unbelief and unwillingness to go with Him to the Promised Land and they were granted their hearts desire: to stay in the wilderness far away from the giants. From this point forward, only Joshua and Caleb would lead the next generation into the Promised Land.
Friends, it's time to stand up to fear with our faith. Put our feet where our trust is. God has appointed us for such a time as this. There is something that God has called you too, and it is your decision if you will go forward with a different spirit of faith, or be held back by the same spirit of fear.
Here’s what I’m claiming over us from this point forward:
MAY WE BE MEN AND WOMEN OF A DIFFERENT SPIRIT.
It’s time to put down the spirit of fear and be defined by a different spirit. In this fear obsessed culture, may we be men and women of radical, humble, confident faith like no one has ever seen before. The risk is far too great and our time far too short to stay frozen by our fears.
Let’s walk into the things we were made for with full confidence in who God is. It is our job to drive out any spirit of fear—any thought or belief that sets itself up against the knowledge of God—and look beyond the giants that lay ahead, setting our gaze on the faithfulness of the One who sends us.
Take a minute and think about what fear has cost you. Hand it over to God and ask Him to empower you to take back that ground, once and for all. (It belongs to Him, anyways!) It's time to MOVE forward. Do one thing that God has put in your heart to do that you just haven't yet. Send the note. Make the ask. Extend the invite. Whatever it is--do it with a spirit of CONFIDENCE, not fear!
I'm in this with you! Reach out to a close friend and let them know what step you are taking this week. Here's to a week of CONFIDENT, faith-filled action.
About this Plan
What happens when we let fear, doubt, or lies hinder us from living the life we were made for? What would you do differently if you had no fear? Everyday we have the choice to have a faith greater than fear. It's time to walk with humble courage into all God has for us by digging into what He says about the life we were made to live.
