Read To Me Daily Semester 4Sample
EZEKIEL 2-3:
Yesterday Ezekiel described his vision of the four cherubim, and the chapter ended just as Ezekiel started hearing a Voice. The last verse of chapter 1 says:
Ezk. 1:28b GNT When I saw this, I fell face downward on the ground. Then I heard a voice
SONG OF SOLOMON 2:
Song of Solomon has many speaking parts for the woman, the man, and chorus parts for the people of Jerusalem or the other young women.
MATTHEW 24a:
In Matthew 23 we We heard Jesus’ stern and harsh criticism and warning to his enemies— the Pharisees and teachers of religious law. Now in chapter 24, Jesus teaches his disciples about what will happen in the future. Some of these warnings are about what will happen to Jerusalem 40 years after Jesus was crucified. But it seems that SOME are the kind that will be re-fulfilled at the end times.
Let’s pray.
Dear Lord Jesus, I think I know one big reason the teachers of the Law and the Pharisees became such hypocrites: They didn’t expect You to come. So firm were they in that belief and in their powerful positions that they became blind to your glorious presence and all your miracles. These were the ones who could say, “This guy does a lot of miracles. Come on, let’s kill him!” So Lord, let us now not be blind to all the signs of your soon coming again. Because if we don’t expect You, we will quickly become like those who clean the outside of the bowl, but leave the inside dirty. We’ll be so religious as to strain a gnat out of our drink, but swallow a camel. We will pride ourselves on tithing garden herbs, but neglect such things as justice, mercy, and honesty. We will cross land and sea and whole countries to make one convert. Then we will make that poor wretch into a hypocrite like ourselves. Make us to be those who will joyfully shout, “God bless Him who comes in the name of the Lord.”
