The Art Of Neighboring: Week ThreeSample
The call to love others is part of a mission and ministry much bigger than us or our communities. But as we play our part, through the power of the Holy Spirit, we and our communities are transformed through the love of God.
Pray
Lord Christ, fill me and my church with the knowledge of your love. Let me carry your message and your love into the community outside of church.
Read
Jesus knew that he was going back to the Father. He explained to his disciples that his ministry was not ending. Instead, through them, it would exponentially expand.
John 14:12-14
Reflect
To pray in Jesus’s name means to pray for what he approves of, what he wants, and what he has promised. Jesus’s words here encourage us to ask God for big things: provision, deliverance, transformation.
Respond
Read this passage again. Respond by writing a prayer to Jesus, praising him for what he is saying in this passage. For example, think for a moment about what it means that Jesus is with the Father, hearing your prayers and acting on them. Praise God!

About this Plan
Have you been afraid to reach out to a neighbor? What if you offend her? What if he laughs at you? What if she isn’t interested in getting to know you? Loving others can seem risky, even intimidating. But God’s Word trains us to be bold, generous, loving neighbors.
