Endless Love: Intimacy With GodSample
Knowing God Through His Word
God intended for His creation to be relatable to Him. Therefore, we were fashioned and designed in the image of God (Genesis 1:26). The angels didn’t even have the privilege of communing with God. God gave mankind an honorable gift by giving us a part of Himself in the form of the spirit.
Often intimacy is mistaken for being a meaningless act with another person that you may or may not love. Although there is much confusion that couldn’t be further from the truth. The issue, when trying to seek intimacy in all the wrong places, you can leave pieces of yourself with people who are undeserving of you. One of the main ways that God speaks to His children is through His Word. It is the likeliest places to hear His voice without confusion. This is why it is imperative to interact with God through prayer and the reading of His Scriptures. Whenever we ask God questions while meditating on what He has spoken we create intimate moments with God. In these times it is important to remember that what God speaks will not be in contradiction to what has been written in the Bible. As we still ourselves to listen and allow God time to penetrate our spirit we become more familiar with His voice. As openness and transparency become the key factors in the relationship, it creates the vulnerability needed to have a rich intimate relationship with God.
Prayer:
"Dear Heavenly Father, You have promised that if I draw near to You, You will draw near to me. I need more of Your presence today, and I am drawing near to You through prayer, worship, and reading Your Word. As I open my heart to You and ask You to be near to me and change me to be more like You. Amen."
