Beauty On PurposeSample
I love the beauty and fashion industry and have been an active part of it since I was 17 years old. But I know that it’s all smoke and mirrors. Millions of dollars are spent on campaigns to make us feel inadequate. Hours are spent on photo shoots and the back lots of studio sets painting faces and sinching waists. If we’re not careful, we’ll get caught up in the fantasy of it all. We’ll attempt to live our regular lives in the shadow of the unrealistic and measure ourselves against lives that don’t exist. We’ll believe the lie that everyone is perfect and we’re imperfect. But I promise you, beloved, it is all lies.
I frequently watch pre-shows for the Oscars, Grammy's, Tony’s, etc., and am amazed at how much we measure ourselves to the ONE day highlighted on TV. Remember this: these actors, actresses, singers and songwriters spend a week or so preparing for that ONE day. However, we don’t see them the other 350+ days with no makeup and holey yoga pants, sweating it out doing the work that gets them the awards (Selah moment). Don’t measure your days based on their ONE day. What can you do today to make yourself feel beautiful?

About this Plan
What does it mean to be beautiful? What does it mean to have beauty? Inward or outward, we’ll take a look at what the Bible considers to be beautiful: a woman whose heart is focused on pleasing God and whose mission it is to see the promises of God fulfilled in the lives of all whom she encounters.
