Love God Greatly: Words MatterSample
One of the words that better described me before I became a Christian was “unfiltered.” I would say anything to anybody. But now, after years of hard work from the Holy Spirit, I'm starting to learn how to hold my tongue.
All the verses today refer to the same truth: if you restrain your words, you´ll be wise.
Matthew 12:36-37 reminds us that we will give account for every careless word we've spoken. Every single careless word. These verses refer to “idle words” and “small talk.” They warn us against those moments in our conversation where we reveal our true character through our careless words.
I don't know about you, but I have spoken many words I shouldn't have said to others. We need to start filtering the things we say and hold our tongues. So, from this day on, make every word count. Do not waste your words. Be wise!
Heavenly Father, please forgive me from the idle words I've spoken. Help me be wise and control the words I say. In Jesus’ name, amen.
About this Plan
In this 4 week study, we will dig into God’s Word and learn what He says about the words we speak to ourselves, to others, and words that change the world. We will learn to honor God and others with the words that we speak. We pray this study gives us great insight into how we can consistently speak words that give life and transform lives.
