Don't Be Afraid, Just Have FaithSample
About Time
Twelve years is a long time. A lot can and does happen in twelve years. Think about your life; twelve years ago, where were you and what were you doing? We must habitually stop and take stock of our lives; stop to think on and learn from past events. What has happened to you in twelve years? Could you have imagined any of the things that have happened in the past twelve years of your life? How have you responded to these happenings and what have you learnt in twelve years?
Take time out today to think and pen down your lessons from the last twelve years. Talk to God about what you have written down. Ask for healing, restoration, mercy, understanding, and wisdom where necessary. Then ask Him to be your guide for the next twelve years and beyond. Resolve today not to move until you are certain God is leading you.
Twelve years is one of the things Jairus and the woman with the issue of blood have in common. For twelve years this woman was in agony but for Jairus, it was twelve years of rejoicing. For twelve years, Jairus was living the dream at least until his daughter became ill. But this woman was living a nightmare. However, these two characters recognized that the solution they needed was Jesus, and they sought Him out amidst the crowd. God’s Word urges us to come boldly to the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace [not in times of strength but] when we need it most. It is at the time of need that you need help most, right?
I may not know what you are going through or how tough things are. But I can confidently tell you this, Jesus is The Answer and Jesus is near. As soon as Jairus and this woman heard Jesus was in their neighbourhood, they both pushed through the crowd and interrupted Jesus. Yes, they actually interrupted Him. Remember, neither of them had a relationship with Jesus. You must never ever be afraid to ‘interrupt’ Jesus.
She approached Jesus from behind, Jairus approached Jesus from the front. Even though they both fell at Jesus’ feet, Jairus asked [pleaded] for a miracle, but this woman audaciously stole a miracle. Most times, we short-change ourselves by not reaching out to God when we should. When we do not reach out to God, we do not get all that He has for us. But it takes faith to reach out to God. It takes faith to open up to and be vulnerable to God. Both Jairus and this woman, reached out in faith and were completely vulnerable.
Have you been completely vulnerable with God? There is no time like now, so accept God’s invitation and come boldly to receive the grace and mercy you need - now!
