What would it have been like for the Marys on that first Easter? 

“He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and that he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember what I have told you" (Matthew 28:6–7 NLT). 

Can you imagine their shift from mourning to sheer joy? This kind of shift naturally happens when someone follows Christ. The good news of Christ’s resurrection makes us want to tell someone—quickly. 

As the women rushed to obey, they encountered Jesus. At first, they didn’t recognize him. Despite their urgency, Jesus pulled them aside for time with him. Today when passion and urgency for going and doing fills our hearts, Jesus pulls us aside to focus on being. Once we’ve spent time with him, our witness is powerful and effective. 

I was born in a hurry to get to Thailand. Yet there were delays. Earning a degree at North Central University. Pastoring a church in Wisconsin. Still, in the delays I saw God's refining work. 

I don’t regret the years I spent longing to be in Thailand. I believe two things helped me stay on track through the delays: an urgency for going and telling never-reached people and abiding with Jesus. 

Too many lose their passion. If we bypass the time God calls us to spend with him, our urgency for reaching the lost fades. 

Do you have a call beyond where you are today? Ask the Holy Spirit to rekindle the passion and the urgency he planted in you. The risen Savior is calling—will you go?

Go Quickly!

Spend time asking God to guide you and give you wisdom. Don’t rush through abiding time with Jesus—time in which God is preparing you to do and go. But be careful not to let your rest stop be your final stop. Recommit yourself to following God’s leading every step of the way to fulfill his plan for your life.

Ask God to prepare the hearts of the Southern Thai Muslims for the coming of the gospel and the hearts of workers to go and tell them.
