I'm Struggling, Lord

DAY 1 OF 10

I don’t know what to do

One of the reasons we like action movies is that the heroes are larger than life. They are not only handsome and brave and strong; they always seem to know what to do. They always have a plan; they are brilliant improvisers when the plot changes; they always look together and confident.

Here’s the difference--they live in the movies, where the writers make them look clever, wardrobe sets them up with really cool clothes, stuntmen take their falls, and the bad guys make fatal mistakes and always lose in the end. You and I live in a place called reality, where our choices are murkier, the paths more confusing, and our relationships more complicated.

Life is full of human dilemmas: Which career track is right for me? Is this woman worth committing to? What do I do with an out-of-control child? You have a Friend in heaven who is waiting to be asked for his help: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5,6). God is amazing! He can make a way out of no way. He knows when and how and who and how much. When asked, he will give us the information we need on a day-to-day basis.

Our part is threefold: listen to his messages, acknowledge him as we walk, and trust that the right path will become clear when God is ready to show it to us.
