You And Your DreamSample
Linking The Eternal Perspective To Your Earthly
God created the world and made mankind in His own image. You are made in the image of God. That replication of His image means you are imbued with an enormous amount of talent, insight, skill, creativity, value and purpose. To be made in the image of God is a wonderful thing but it also comes with it an enormous amount of responsibility. Yes, you have a responsibility to the Lord to be a steward of all that He has placed within you.
We have all been gifted with three things: Time, Talents and Treasures. Your talents aren’t the same as my talents. They are unique to YOU. Your time is not the same as mine. Your lifespan will be unique to YOU. Your treasures are not the same as mine. They are yours to steward and YOU will be held accountable for what you do with YOU.
Don’t get lost in the comparison trap. You are responsible for what you do with your time, talents and treasures. Your success will be measured on what has been given to YOU.
As you think about your dream and how that will play out as your purpose in life, consider how your time, talents and treasures will be used to carry it out. They will impact each other. And YOU get to choose how much you invest in using them for God’s glory and the fulfillment of the dream He has placed inside of you. Listen to this lesson’s audio message and use the following questions to reflect on it.
Personal Questions
1. What are your talents? List them out.
2. Take some time to assess the treasures God has given you.
3. Read Luke 19:11-13.
a. What do you think the master intended when he asked them to “engage in business” until he returned?
b. Consider if your boss asked you to do the same. Would you seek to turn a profit with the resources he/she had given to you? Or would it be okay to simply let those resources sit while he/she was gone?
c. If you answered that you would seek to turn a profit, why is that so?
4. Based on Colossians 3:23, in what way does God want you to steward the resources (your time, talents and treasures) that He has given to you?
5. Read 1 Corinthians 4:2. What does it mean to be “found trustworthy” with what God has given to you?
a. How does this relate to what you listed in the answers to questions 1 and 2?
