Journey Of The Seed - Catch The Bible's Big Picture In 60 DaysSample
CONTEXT MATTERS
[Scheduled Reading: Jeremiah 26-34]
One of the cool experiences about power-reading through the Bible is the opportunity to gain context.
While cruising through Jeremiah you’ll encounter a familiar passage:
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope(Jer. 29:11).
It’s one of the most famous and frequently quoted verses in the Bible. But most Christians don’t know the context of this passage.
For 41 days we’ve been reading about the Journey of The Seed: starting with Adam… and eventually Noah… then Abraham…. then King David…
After the kingdom divides (the southern and northern split), and after both kingdoms are captured, God wants His children to know He has their future in His control.
God wants the Israelites to know that after 70 years of exile are complete, they will be restored to their rightful place in Jerusalem.
Sure enough, this happens through Zerubbabel, Ezra and Nehemiah.
Understanding the Bible’s big-picture helps to understand the context of the prophets!
