PRAY:  Dear Heavenly Father, You ARE my true Father and I thank You for that. Thank You that You defend the cause of the fatherless and You take care of the needy, as a good and faithful Father. Thank You that though we are only clay, You are the potter and we are all the work of Your hand. I want to trust you and fall more in love with You more than I could ever trust or love my earthly father. You are a Father to me and I praise You for that! Amen and Amen

REFLECT:  Have you ever thought why God made Himself our father and not our mother? It's because a mother's love is instinctive, but a father's love is a choice. God didn't want to love us as an instinct. He CHOSE to love each and every one of us. We can love because He loved us first. He is the ultimate, perfect Father that earthly fathers try to be, but to which they can never come close. Oh, if only we could understand that and not compare Him to our earthly fathers, but to understand that our earthly fathers are only mere reflections of God, our Heavenly Father. God tells us that He is our true Father, that He cares for the needy, as a good father does, that He creates us, molds us and completes us, as a potter does to a lump of clay. He even "defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing." How perfect, powerful and precious is our God!

ACT:  Think through your expectations of God your Heavenly Father, based on your relationship with your earthly Father. Can you separate the two? Do you have hurts, anger or numbness toward your earthly father that has spilled into your relationship with God the Father? Right now, write God a love note, as your perfect Father, and thank Him for everything He is, above and beyond anything your earthly father could possibly be. How big and mighty is your God? Stretch out of your emotional comfort zone and thank God for being your creator, comforter, supporter, supplier, guardian, care-giver, friend, advisor and more. Then save your love note and go back to it in the future. Never forget how amazing your Heavenly Father is.
