Daily Prayer: Lord, give me a hunger for more of you.
Daily Practice: Meditate on the words of Isaiah in the reading for today. Just like true worship, true fasting will lead us into action for the sake of others. As our disordered appetites lose their control over our lives, we begin to hunger deeply for God and his Kingdom. How can fasting become a sustained practice in your life with God? If you regularly fasted from one or more of your “go-to” substitutes, how would that open up more of your time and attention to seek His Kingdom?
Make a plan for a weekly or daily fast (from food, media, or something else) that you can try for 30 days. Invite the Holy Spirit to empower you in this practice. Enjoy the presence and love of the Lord as you feast on him above all else.
