Daily Prayer: Lord, teach me to worship in spirit and in truth.
Daily Practice: To worship the Lord “in truth” looks like responding to God in loving obedience - putting love into action. Our God is the God of self-sacrifice, the God who gave himself away for our sake. He is the God of love and justice. True worship of him, therefore, will always lead to our own acts of self-sacrifice for the sake of others. As you worship the Lord today, choose someone in your life or a group of people in your community who might be hurting or in need. Commit to serving that person or group this weekend, even if it means sacrificing your time or something else that serves your own desires.
When we begin to understand worship as a whole-life devotion to loving God and loving others, we begin to understand what it means to worship God in spirit and in truth.
