Be WiseSample
Glorify the Lord
In Proverbs, Solomon encourages us to not abandon wisdom because she will watch over us. We must love her, and she will guard us. He also tells us to love wisdom and obey wisdom. When you say you are going to love wisdom, that shows desire; but when you say that you are going to obey wisdom, that means discipline.
In Second Chronicles chapter one, the Lord comes to Solomon and says: “What do you want?” What would you say to God if he said to you: “What do you want?” Many of us would say, “I don’t want to pay taxes,” young guys would say “I want to be popular,” a single person would say “I want to get married,” a businessman would say “I want to make a bunch of money,” and none of those would be good enough. However, Solomon says, “I want to be wise,” so he chooses and desires wisdom. That is a desire and a love for wisdom. We must choose to be wise.
Then Proverbs says, “Obey wisdom" because to be wise requires discipline, and not only the desire. This is bad news, but it's true. Sometimes what is wise, and what your emotions say, may be at odds. You may emotionally feel something, and that might not be a wise decision. The secret is that we don't just live by our feelings, and that takes discipline. We live by the Word of God, and we walk in wisdom. So, when you are feeling something, and you want it intensely, you had better step back and think whether that is really wise, because many of us get in trouble because we walk on what we feel instead of doing what is wise.
Does your decision-making process begin with the desire to glorify God? Are you obedient to wisdom in your life?

About this Plan
If you found Aladdin’s magic lamp, what would you ask the genie? Fortune, fame, solutions to your problems? There was a man to whom God said: “Say what I am to give you.” However, he asked for just one thing: wisdom. In addition, he wrote a book, Proverbs, to teach us the importance of wisdom. Let us learn from him and his experience the importance of wisdom.
