Search Me, Test Me, Lead MeSample
Search Me, God
Oh, hi! Nice to have you back! It’s time for Day 2 of me, your Bible Plan. It was great to meet you yesterday. And now, let’s dive in. Yesterday, I promised we’d talk about piñatas, so let’s just get straight to it. Watch this.
Remember how I told you we’re going to look at Psalm 139:23-24 NIV each day? Let’s do it. Today, let’s focus on the beginning, the part that says, “Search me, God, and know my heart …” When you’re trying to answer the questions about who you are, step away from the mirror. It’s not important who you are on the outside. That will keep changing your whole life long. Who you are on the inside is much more who you really are. That can change, too, but the gifts God gave you, the plan He laid out for you before you were born—that’s the part of you that God looks at. That’s the part of you that’s much more, well, you.
In the book of 1 Samuel, you’ll read a little bit about something God told to an ancient prophet of God named (you guessed it) Samuel. Samuel was looking for a future king. He went to visit a family where God said he’d find this king. The father was named Jesse. Jesse introduced Samuel to his oldest sons. But Samuel said God didn’t plan for them to be kings. So Jesse brought out his youngest son, David. (Side note: Do you know the story of David and Goliath? The kid who used a slingshot to kill a giant? It’s a cool Bible story—and this is that same David!) Anyway, it turned out that kid, David, was the one God was going to make king. That’s when God spoke (through Samuel) the famous words, “People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
You might google “who am I,” find a million different answers, and none of them may be true. You might look in the mirror and say, “I hate my hair!” Or maybe, “I’m great looking!” None of that is important. If you want to know who you really are, you need to ask God. He designed you. He’ll search your heart. And He will help you see yourself the way He sees you: as His amazing creation! He has plans for each of us. And He didn’t make any duplicates.
I enjoyed our time together today. Tomorrow, get ready for some slime time!
About this Plan
Who am I? What am I doing with my life? What can I do? These are questions you might be wrestling with if you’re in the 4th to 6th grade. And, guess what? God will help you find answers to those questions. This six-day Bible Plan digs into Psalm 139:23-24 and teaches you to ask God to search, test, and lead you into the purpose He designed for your life.
