Read To Me Daily Semester 3

DAY 81 OF 82

1CHRONICLES 21-22:
Yesterday in our reading in 1st Chronicles, we heard the part where the writer delicately skated over where David had his affair with Bathsheba. But we heard of his military victories and especially about the misunderstanding that became the reason for the war with the Ammonites.

PROVERBS 20b:
Here is our highlighted verse from Proverbs for today:

Pro. 20:24 GNT The Lord has determined our path;
how then can anyone understand the direction his own life is taking?

Another proverb with deep significance is this:

27 The Lord gave us mind and conscience;
we cannot hide from ourselves.

TITUS 2:
An important theme of the letter to Titus is (as literally translated) ‘healthy faith’ and ‘healthy teaching.’ These two expressions boil down to believing in true teachings.

Let’s pray.
Heavenly Father, please help us that our unity in Christ will not be blocked because of offense, pride, stubbornness, and insisting on our own way. I sincerely thank You for this letter showing the partnership of Paul and Titus. They worked together like a father and son because of precious unity in Christ. Lord, help us to ponder the Proverbs we are reading. I especially choose the one that says, “Any fool can start arguments.” Arguments were also plaguing the believers in Crete. They were foolish arguments based on false teaching. Give us wisdom and help us by the Holy Spirit that we will believe only true and healthy teachings. And so we find that both the letter to Titus and the book of Proverbs urge us to keep our consciences clear. Deal with each of us, Lord. Please heal me, if my conscience becomes defiled, or is ignored for so long that it can no longer communicate feelings of guilt to my heart. And I pray that my listener would pray the same: So that he or she would also be able to hear the voice of conscience. We pray that you would forgive us of the sins we confess to you now.
