God Has a Purpose for Humanity

Your life has a specific purpose given to you by God.

God does not do things by accident, and when He created the world, He did it thoughtfully. He gave humanity a specific purpose. Now, anyone can carry on that purpose today, including you.

So what were we created to do?

Glorify God in every single thing we do. 

Now, that may not sound like the kind of purpose you were hoping to find, but this study will show you how meaningful this purpose really is. When God fills us with His Spirit, He brings new meaning to our work, our relationships, our passions, our free time, and even our rest. We can glorify Him in all that we do, and therefore, everything we do can have divine meaning. 

At the very beginning, God gave our earliest ancestors, Adam and Eve, a mission to build societies and cultures, and the command still applies to us today. “Be fruitful and multiply,” he said. “Fill the earth and subdue it.” 

While the first half involves populating the earth, the second has to do with building cultures. Farming, starting businesses, working at a grocery store, parenting, and many other vocations all have to do with subduing the earth. Cultures are made up of artists and business people, teachers and public servants, and God has great purpose for every person involved in any society in all of history, including you.

This study will help you see how God can use you right where you are today. By looking closely at God’s Word, you will see how much meaning and purpose your life really has. 

The scriptures for today give us an overview of God’s purpose for all of humanity. Along with the command to fill and subdue the earth, Isaiah tells his readers that God first created people to glorify Him. When we combine these two verses, we can see that our primary purpose is to glorify God in all that we do, through our relationships and our daily activities. The rest of this study will help you see how to actually go about doing that, but today, rest in the fact that God has given you a specific purpose and praise Him for calling you to participate in such an important task.
