Hell, Heaven & How To Get There By Pete BriscoeSample
Are Your Priorities in Line?
The safest road to hell is the gradual one—the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts. — C.S. Lewis
In today’s demanding world, priorities are a must. But what happens if we procrastinate the most important thing of all and fail to prioritize our eternal destiny? That leads to what I call the “standby” mythstake. It sounds like the words of another man Jesus described:
Then he said, “This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I’ll say to myself, ‘You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.’”
But God said to him, “You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?” (Luke 12:18-20)
This mythstake is pretty basic. It says, “Yeah, Yeah, I believe that—but I’ll deal with it later.” I don’t have to explain how foolish this is, do I? “Later” could come in an instant. Disaster can strike at anytime with consequences that last forever. And like most mythstakes, this one dissolves with the least bit of thought. That night the man lost his life. The Bible tells us the truth: God invites us to live in truth today.
Jesus, I agree that my days on earth are numbered, and I really have no idea when my number is up. I surrender everything I have and everything I am to You right now. I’m trusting You to live in me and through me today to Your glory. Amen.

About this Plan
Imagine eternity. It’s not so easy, right? Because we can’t grasp the concept of something eternal, we’re prone to pick up some misconceptions along the way. In this 6-day reading plan, Pete Briscoe shines the light of Scripture on five common myths about hell, heaven, and how to get there—highlighting what makes the truth of the Gospel much better news each step of the way.
