Lent: Journey According To Luke

DAY 31 OF 49

FAITHFULNESS WITH MONEY

DEVOTION
Here in Luke 16, when Jesus established by what criteria faithfulness is judged, he focused on three main areas:
1. Little things
2. Money
3. What belongs to others

He reveals that if we have been faithful in these relatively small areas, then we qualify to be given great responsibility, true riches and our own world to rule over. We might think that if we were faithful with spiritual riches, then God would grant us worldly riches. But the opposite is what Jesus declares!

Faithfulness with money is about living right with God’s money! I am convinced that what we do with that portion of our money, which belongs to God (Lev 27:30), is the most insightful revelation of who we really are.

FOR REFLECTION
• God wants us to give our best in all things, and this includes the area of our finances.
• What is the biggest obstacle preventing me from giving my best to God?

PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, I surrender those things that I am holding on to and preventing me from giving you my very best. I pray that I will place my trust and security in you and not in the things of this world.
